Monthly Dinner Meeting
October 17, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Please join us at the next South Placer Estate Planning Council (SPEPC) Speaker & Dinner meeting. Our October 17 presenters are Stan Zeto, Acting Executive Director, CalABLE Act Board, and Margaret Heiser Fulton, estate planning and special needs planning attorney. Margaret Fulton is a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners and a stakeholder in the development of the CalABLE program. They will present:
ABLE Accounts: A New Tax-Advantaged Savings Tool for People with Disabilities
ABLE Act passed by overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate and was signed into law in 2014. Since then, over half of the states have adopted ABLE programs, most of which are open to residents of all states. Under the ABLE Act, for the first time, eligible individuals are allowed to establish tax-advantaged savings accounts, similar to 529 accounts, without jeopardizing their eligibility for SSI, Medi-Cal and other needs-based public benefits. In this session, attendees will learn who is eligible to open an ABLE account, how the account is funded and used, and income and gift tax considerations in using an ABLE account. Stan Zeto will discuss the status of the California program, CalABLE, which is in the process of being adopted. Margaret Fulton will discuss the differences between an ABLE account and a third party special needs trust and how the two can be used together. Click the Register now! button to RSVP. Costs: $35.00 for members, $45.00 for non-members.

Deadline is October 10, 12 noon (one week before the event).
