Matthew R. Maynard
Placer County Assessor
Matthew R. Maynard was appointed to Assessor on January 1, 2022.
Matt is a native of the Placer County foothills, living in Placer for over 40 years, working and raising two children with his wife. He is a graduate of National University, obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership. His hobbies include camping, fishing, and chasing a little ball around a golf course.
Matt’s prior work experience includes Web/Database Application Development and performing Real Property Fee Appraisals in Placer and surrounding counties. Matt began his career with the Assessor’s Office in 2007, as an Appraisal Technician in the Commercial Division. He then spent time in various appraisal and leadership capacities throughout the Office before working as a senior manager for nine years under Assessor Kristen Spears prior to his appointment to Assessor in 2022.
Michelle Sierra-Sammons
Assessment Supervisor, Placer County
Michelle Sierra-Sammons is an Assessment Supervisor for the Placer County Assessor’s Office. Michelle began her career with the Assessor in April of 1999 as an Administrative Clerk, then promoting to Appraisal Technician. In November of 2005 she was promoted to her current role as an Assessment Supervisor. Michelle currently oversees the Commercial Ownership Division.
Michelle is a member of the California Assessors’ Association (CAA) Forms Sub-Committee and is also a member of the California Assessors’ Administrative Association’s (CAASA) Education Committee. She has served as a statewide trainer for CAASA for the past nine years on assessment topics such as Trusts, Legal Entities, and Death and Taxes.
Michelle is also the President for the Auburn Union School District Board of Trustees and is a member of the Auburn Kiwanis. She and her husband, Bill Sammons, live in Auburn.
