About the Speakers:
Melissa Labant has more than 22 years of tax experience, specializing in research, analysis and writing. Her career included tax policy and advocacy for the profession with oversight on the formulation and submission to Congress, Treasury Department, DOL and IRS of technical and policy recommendations. She also provided comprehensive estate and financial planning services to a wide-range of clients – including family business owners, corporate executives and ultra-high net worth individuals.

Quinton Boucher is a Senior Tax Associate in the greater Sacramento area, holds a MAcc with an emphasis in Tax. On rotation with the firm’s National Tax Office, Quinton has contributed to and presented the firm’s Tax Advisors Update internally and externally for the past three years and assists clients across the firm with a broad range of Federal income tax issues. In regular tax practice, Quinton serves clients in the Pacific Northwest with a special focus on the Manufacturing and Distribution industry.

About the Presentation:
We will discuss income, estate and gift tax changes for high net worth individuals under the current House Ways & Means Committee proposal. Topics may include higher income tax rates, a reduction in the estate and gift tax exemption, a 3% surcharge, limitations on valuation discounts, and changes to the taxation of trusts (intentionally defective grantor trusts, ILITs, GRATs). We will also cover “Mega-IRAs” and planning strategies if time permits.
